China's Export Market of Plant Extracts in 2018

2019-07-30 11:14:00

According to customs statistics, China's export of plant extracts in 2017 was 2.010 billion US dollars, up 4.33% year on year, successfully reversing the unfavorable situation of 10.93% decline in the same period in 2016. The export volume was 79,700 tons, and the decline was narrowed from 14.29% to 4.15%. What are the main exporting countries of plant extracts in China? What are the main export products?

TOP10: Malaysia Market

In the first quarxport performance of extracts to Malaysia shrank the most, with exports of 16 million US dollars, down 29% from the same period last year. Before that, China's export of extracts to Malaysia had developed very rapidly, and the export performance of extracts to Malaysia had declined every year since 2015. My main exports to Malaysia are Stevia extract and flavor extract.

TOP9: South Korea Market

In the first quarter, China's export performance of extracts to South Korea declined slightly, with the export volume reaching 22 million US dollars, down 3% from the same period of last year. The South Korean market developed rapidly in the previous few years and rose to the top three in the export market in a glorious period. In the past two years, China's export performance began to shrink due to diplomatic friction with South Korea. South Koreans love health preservation, and the main varieties exported by our country to South Korea are mainly dietary supplements such as ginkgo leaves and plant extracts of pharmaceutical raw materials.

TOP8: french market

In the first quarter, China's export volume of extracts to France was 24 million US dollars, up 30% year on year, accounting for 4.18% of the total export volume. The French market is relatively stable. In recent years, the performance has been steadily moving forward with a slight growth pace. France is most famous for its cosmetics and perfumes, so it mainly imports essential oil extracts from China, as well as pharmaceutical raw material extracts.

TOP7: Spanish Market

Spain's market has been among the top 10 export markets since 2016. Its annual demand has been steadily rising. In the first quarter, its performance was flat compared with the same period last year. Its export volume was 25 million US dollars, accounting for 4.5% of the total export volume. China's exports to Spain are mainly pigment plant extracts.

TOP6: Indian Market

In the first quarter, China's export volume of extracts to India was 28 million US dollars, up 21% year on year, accounting for 4.87% of the total export volume. India's market demand is stable and has been among the top ten markets in recent years. India is most famous for its curry and spices. Similarly, China exports mainly turmeric and other spices to India.

TOP5: German Market

In the first quarter, China's export volume of extracts to Germany was 29 million US dollars, up 31% year-on-year. The German market showed a steady growth momentum, accounting for 5% of the total export volume. The main products I export to Germany are plant extracts of dietary supplements.

TOP4: Hong Kong market

In the past two years, Hong Kong's market has performed well and its export performance has been excellent. In the first quarter, China's export volume of extracts to Hong Kong was 40 million US dollars, up 76% year on year, accounting for 7% of the total export volume. Hong Kong is a trading port for plant extracts, mainly transferring Chinese medicine extracts and essence and spice plant extracts.

TOP3: Indonesian market

In the first quarter, China's export to Indonesia was 47 million U.S. dollars, up 181% year-on-year, accounting for 8.3% of the total export. Indonesia's extract market grew rapidly and its market potential exploded. Indonesia is China's largest export destination country of flavors and fragrances, and the main varieties exported to Indonesia are extracts of flavors and fragrances.

TOP2: Japanese Market

In the first quarter, China's export volume of extracts to Japan was 66 million US dollars, up 12% year-on-year, accounting for 11.49% of the total export volume. It has maintained steady growth. The main export products are Chinese herbal medicine extract, licorice hydrochloride, menthol, rutin, etc. It can be seen that the main export to Japan is spices.

TOP1: US Market

In the first quarter, China's export of plant extracts to the United States was US$ 115 million, up 6.2% from the first quarter of last year, accounting for 19.98% of the total export. For a long time, the United States has been the largest exporter of plant extracts to China. However, once the Trump government implements the policy of imposing 3,000 tariffs, China's export to the United States will be greatly restricted. The products I export to the United States mainly include stevia leaf extract, licorice extract, ginkgo leaf extract and other dietary supplement raw materials.
